New Year, Same Obsession: All Events January Edition 🎪

Every acro festival, intensive, and retreat through March, all in one place.

Hello, Bases & Flyers!

Happy New Year! I hope 2026 will be end up being the best year of your life, only topped by 2027.

I rang in the year at a small get-together that mixed the acro crowd with the partner dance world on a balcony of fireworks, and now I can’t stop thinking about going bachata’ing. There’s not nearly enough time to try everything, but every new year feels like an invitation for a few new firsts.

This week’s All Events January edition is a big-picture look at everything coming up from now through March, so you can start mapping the first stretch of the year while momentum is still fresh.

So expect in today’s issue:

  • 🎪 Featured Festival of the Week

  • ✈️ Plan Ahead: Q1 preview by region

  • 🌍 Beyond Acro: Cultural Festivals to Catch in February

  • 🧳 My Favorite Travel Tools

🌐 FEATURED FESTIVAL OF THE WEEK

📍 AcroTantra Fest | Lake Atitlán, Guatemala | Feb 16–21

Set on the shores of Lake Atitlán, AcroTantra Fest blends partner acrobatics with tantra, movement, and relational practices in a deeply immersive format. The week-long gathering weaves structured workshops with ritual, exploration, and rest, attracting movers from acro, yoga, dance, and somatic traditions.

If you’re drawn to festivals that feel less rushed and more intentional, this one offers a slower, deeper rhythm than the typical weekend event.

🌍 BEYOND ACRO: Cultural Festivals to Catch in February

Bangus Festival 2023

Chinese New Year | Across Asia & global Chinatowns | Feb 17, 2026
The Lunar New Year marks the start of the Year of the Horse, celebrated with family gatherings, temple visits, fireworks, lion dances, and extended holiday travel. Major cities slow down while smaller towns come alive, making this one of the most culturally immersive times to be in Asia.

Sapporo Snow Festival | Sapporo, Japan | Feb 4–11, 2026
Hokkaido’s winter highlight features massive snow and ice sculptures lining Odori Park and surrounding districts. The festival combines art, winter sports, food stalls, and nighttime illumination. Cold, yes, but visually unreal.

Oruro Carnival | Oruro, Bolivia | Feb 7–17, 2026
One of South America’s most important folkloric celebrations, Oruro Carnival blends Indigenous Andean traditions with Catholic rituals. Expect days of costumed dance processions, brass bands, and non-stop movement leading into Lent.
